Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 inch ginger piece (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

Cook the Rice

  • Rinse basmati rice thoroughly and cook with 1 ½ cups of water until fluffy. Set aside.

Prepare the Mint Paste

  • Blend mint leaves, green chilies, and ginger into a smooth paste with a little water.

Temper the Spices

  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and sliced onions, sauté until onions turn golden brown.

Add Mint Paste

  • Add the prepared mint paste and sauté on low heat for 3-4 minutes.

Combine with Rice

  • Add the cooked rice to the pan and mix gently to coat the rice with the mint mixture.
  • Season with salt and cook for another 2 minutes on low heat.

Notes

  • Variation: Add peas or paneer for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Serving Tip: Enjoy with yogurt or raita for a refreshing meal.
