Large bowl
- 1 whole turkey (10-12 lbs)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Lemon wedges (optional)
Prepare the Turkey: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pat the turkey dry and season generously with salt and pepper inside and out.
Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix honey, olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, and melted butter.
Roast the Turkey: Place the turkey on a roasting pan. Brush the first layer of the glaze over the entire turkey.
Baste Regularly: Roast the turkey in the preheated oven. Every 30 minutes, baste the turkey with more honey glaze. Cover loosely with foil if the turkey begins to brown too quickly.
Check Doneness: Continue roasting until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh (about 3 hours). For a golden finish, remove the foil for the last 20 minutes of cooking.
Rest the Turkey: Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with lemon wedges for extra flavor, if desired.
- For a crispier skin, you can turn up the oven to 425°F (220°C) for the last 20 minutes.
- Be sure to rest the turkey after cooking to retain the juices.
