Equipment

  • Roasting pan
  • Meat thermometer
  • Basting brush
  • Aluminum foil
  • Large bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (10-12 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Turkey: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Pat the turkey dry and season generously with salt and pepper inside and out.
  • Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix honey, olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, and melted butter.
  • Roast the Turkey: Place the turkey on a roasting pan. Brush the first layer of the glaze over the entire turkey.
  • Baste Regularly: Roast the turkey in the preheated oven. Every 30 minutes, baste the turkey with more honey glaze. Cover loosely with foil if the turkey begins to brown too quickly.
  • Check Doneness: Continue roasting until the turkey reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh (about 3 hours). For a golden finish, remove the foil for the last 20 minutes of cooking.
  • Rest the Turkey: Remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with lemon wedges for extra flavor, if desired.

Notes

  • For a crispier skin, you can turn up the oven to 425°F (220°C) for the last 20 minutes.
  • Be sure to rest the turkey after cooking to retain the juices.
