Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large glass jar (1-gallon size)
  • Clean cloth or paper towel
  • Rubber band or string
  • Bottles for storing kombucha
  • Straw (for tasting)

Ingredients
  

Ingredients for Kombucha

  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tea bags black or green tea
  • 1 cup starter tea from a previous batch or store-bought
  • 1 SCOBY Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast

Instructions
 

  • Boil water and dissolve sugar to make sweet tea. Let it cool.
  • Add tea and starter tea to a glass jar, then add the SCOBY.
  • Let it ferment for 7-14 days in a warm, dark place.
  • After fermentation, bottle and refrigerate to store.

Notes

  • You can add flavors like ginger, lemon, or berries during the second fermentation.
  • If you want more fizz, let the kombucha ferment longer in the bottles.
  • Always keep some of the kombucha to start your next batch.
