Ingredients for Kombucha
- 4 cups filtered water
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 tea bags black or green tea
- 1 cup starter tea from a previous batch or store-bought
- 1 SCOBY Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast
Boil water and dissolve sugar to make sweet tea. Let it cool.
Add tea and starter tea to a glass jar, then add the SCOBY.
Let it ferment for 7-14 days in a warm, dark place.
After fermentation, bottle and refrigerate to store.
- You can add flavors like ginger, lemon, or berries during the second fermentation.
- If you want more fizz, let the kombucha ferment longer in the bottles.
- Always keep some of the kombucha to start your next batch.
