- 2 cups cooked chickpeas (or 1 can of chickpeas)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tomatoes (pureed)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Prepare the Base Masala:
Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant.
Add Tomatoes and Spices:
Add the pureed tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
Cook until the oil separates from the masala, and the mixture becomes thick.
Add Chickpeas:
Add the cooked chickpeas to the pot and mix well.
Add ground cumin and let the chickpeas simmer in the masala for 10-15 minutes.
Add garam masala and kasuri methi, and mix well.
