Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 300g ground pork (or substitute with mushrooms for vegetarian)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger (minced)
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and yeast. Gradually add warm water and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
  • Prepare the filling by mixing ground pork (or mushrooms), soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Once the dough has risen, divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into a flat circle.
  • Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold and pinch the edges to seal the Baozi.
  • Steam the Baozi in a preheated steamer for 12–15 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Serve warm with dipping sauce, if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute the pork with finely chopped mushrooms and add a pinch of chili flakes for extra flavor. You can also freeze uncooked Baozi and steam them later.
