Ingredients

  • Water as needed (for kneading)

  • 1/2 cup grated dry coconut
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds (khus khus)
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds (saunf)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoons red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder (amchur)
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
  • Oil for deep frying

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, gram flour, turmeric powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  • Add hot oil to the mixture and knead it well. Gradually add water to form a firm dough.
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.

  • In a pan, dry roast the grated coconut until lightly golden. Set aside.
